He mentioned that he would be open to advisory work in the future. OpenAI has not yet responded to questions about his exit. Trust and safety departments have gained prominence in technology firms like OpenAI, Twitter, Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL), and Meta as they aim to combat hate speech, misinformation, and harmful content on their platforms. Willner assumed the role in February of the previous year after working at Airbnb and Facebook (NASDAQ: META).

He emphasized that the demands of his job were affecting his family life, leading to his decision to step down. OpenAI, backed by Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT,) relies on its trust and safety team to create processes and capabilities to prevent the misuse and abuse of AI technologies, including its renowned AI chatbot, ChatGPT, which has gained widespread recognition.
