Recently, I thought again about the future of energy sources that will power the technology sector. The news that Google is seriously considering nuclear energy as a possible source of energy for its data centers intrigued me and further confirmed that we are on the threshold of major changes in the field of energy. Amanda Peterson Corio, who heads the global energy strategy for data centers at Google, openly admitted that in the US and other countries such as Japan, nuclear power can be one of the solutions to ensure a stable and low-carbon source of energy.
Stable energy for tech giants
For me as an investor, this development is extremely important. I know that the demand for stable, uninterrupted energy for data centers will only grow with the rise of artificial intelligence. Tech giants such as Google, Microsoft and Amazon are already taking measures to ensure that they have enough energy from nuclear sources. Microsoft recently struck a deal to buy power from the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant, while Amazon purchased a nuclear data center in Pennsylvania. All this suggests that nuclear power, despite the controversy, is beginning to be seen as an important part of the plan to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and achieve adequate carbon emissions.
Investment opportunities in the nuclear sector
I see it as a great opportunity in terms of investment. Companies that are able to provide sustainable and reliable energy solutions for these tech giants could see a significant increase in value. Entering the nuclear sector, whether through nuclear reactor manufacturers or data center management companies, could be the key to future success.
In my specific reflections on investments in nuclear energy, I looked at three companies that seem to be interesting investment targets. Exelon Corporation is the largest operator of nuclear power plants in the United States, which makes it a stable player in the energy market. Cameco Corporation is one of the largest uranium producers in the world, thus providing a critical raw material source for the nuclear sector. BWX Technologies caught my attention with its specialized focus on the production of nuclear reactors and technologies for military and commercial purposes. I am considering buying shares in these companies because I believe that nuclear energy will be a key source of energy in the future and these companies have a strong position in the market.
Long-term prospects and growth potential
When I think about a long-term investment strategy, I see potential for stable and long-term growth in this area. Google has made it clear that it needs reliable energy to support its long-term growth. Data centers rely on 24-hour power, and nuclear power is the ideal answer to this problem. It is only a matter of time before other technology companies join this strategy and the energy sector, especially the nuclear sector, becomes an integral part of the digital revolution. [1]
