Article on Reuters wrote that yesterday, President Joe Biden met with top artificial intelligence company CEOs, including Google and Microsoft, and stressed the need for their products to be safe before deployment. This year, generative artificial intelligence has become a buzzword, with apps like ChatGPT leading companies to launch similar products, creating concern about privacy violations, employment discrimination, and misinformation campaigns. Biden, who has used ChatGPT, expressed the need for the officials to mitigate risks AI poses to individuals, society, and national security. The two-hour meeting included a discussion on the need for companies to be transparent with policymakers, evaluate the safety of AI products, and protect them from malicious attacks. Now, with the rapid growth of AI it was just a matter of time when officials will come together and discuss it or make a plan for moving forward.
The meeting included Google's Sundar Pichai, Microsoft's Satya Nadella, OpenAI's Sam Altman, and Anthropic's Dario Amodei, along with Vice President Kamala Harris and administration officials. The administration also announced a 140 million USD investment from the National Science Foundation to launch seven new AI research institutes and said the White House's Office of Management and Budget would release policy guidance on the use of AI by the federal government. I had mixed feelings about this part of the article. On one hand, they are discussing the dangers of AI, but on the other hand they fund even more money to open additional research centres.
Anyhow, all of this was kind of expected. I will have to wait for some updates about the meeting and what they have solved. So, this journal today is not for any of my investments, but rather to keep an eye on my open positions for Microsoft and Google, Alphabet. If there will be any unwanted movement, I will act accordingly. Either sell, or rebuy at the lower price. Depends on the events that will be happening. Nevertheless, AI market size is growing rapidly.
