In 2022, the company hired Campbell Wilson, former CEO of Singapore Airlines, leased 25 Airbus and 5 Boeing aircraft, and will introduce a new restructuring program called Vihaan.AI. In addition, it has acquired 100% stake of AirAsia and merged it with Air India Express. Tata Group plans to merge Air India with Vistaro and invest USD 252 million in it. Air India is also investing USD 400 million to renew its fleet of 40 aircraft and the staff will be expanded by 4,200 trainees and 900 pilots this year.

These steps are designed to rid the company of years of stagnation and bureaucratic processes and attract customers from Dubai-based Emirates and domestic rival IndiGo. ChatGPT's artificial intelligence, through which administrative processes and software operations will be managed, will be a key instrument in securing the new growth. Plenty of innovative plans, new solutions under experienced leadership and a perceptible drive to improve and assimilate to the current market conditions makes Air India a game changer on the airline scene and the coming months will show if it will be able to show its potential in the market.
